Hours after actor Ranveer Singh reportedly received a threatening WhatsApp voice note demanding crores in ransom, a close associate of Salman Khan has now received a similar threat via email. The sender has allegedly claimed links to the jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Threat email demands crores According to IANS, the threatening email was sent to a close associate of Salman Khan, described as an actor working in the film industry. The message allegedly demanded crores of rupees and referenced connections to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.Sources in Mumbai Police said the Crime Branch has initiated an investigation into the matter. Officials are tracking mobile locations of suspects near the homes of several celebrities and have stepped up vigilance across sensitive areas.However, no formal police complaint has been registered so far by Salman Khan or the concerned individual. Ranveer Singh also targeted On Tuesday, February 10, Ranveer Singh reportedly received a WhatsApp voice note threatening him and demanding crores in ransom. The animal is considered sacred by the Bishnoi community.Lawrence Bishnoi, who is currently lodged in jail, had publicly declared that it was his lifeâs goal to either make Salman Khan apologise for the incident or kill him.The latest threat comes in the wake of another high-profile security scare. On February 1, gunshots were fired at filmmaker Rohit Shettyâs residence in Juhu, Mumbai. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang later claimed responsibility for the attack through a social media post.The Mumbai Crime Branch has launched a formal probe into the recent threats. With multiple incidents involving prominent film personalities surfacing within a short span, police have intensified surveillance and security arrangements across the city.Authorities are yet to confirm whether the same individuals or network are linked to both the Ranveer Singh and Salman Khan associate threats. Govinda Calls out Karan Johar over 'Govinda Naam Mera', says film used his name
Actor Govinda has taken a dig at filmmaker Karan Johar over the title of the 2022 film Govinda Naam Mera, claiming the movie was made using his name and also hinted at similarities with his personal life. The actor made the remarks while speaking to news agency ANI, and his statement has now sparked fresh discussion online.During the interaction, Govinda expressed displeasure over the title and said, âKisi ne mere naam se picture bana di.â (Someone made a film using my name.) He further pointed towards Karan Johar, who backed the film under Dharma Productions, and suggested the makers should have been more mindful. Govinda also spoke about the filmâs storyline and hinted that it felt too close to his own life. Referring to the plot, he said, âEk pati, ek patni aur ek girlfriend.â (One husband, one wife and one girlfriend.) The actor implied that the premise reminded him of issues that have been discussed around his marriage in recent times.While addressing the situation, Govinda added, âMazaak har jagah achha nahi lagta.â (Jokes donât look good everywhere.) Both parties blamed each other for various reasons. Bollywood Hungama had earlier reported the key developments from the meeting in detail. Now, a reliable source has revealed another important point that was discussed.The source told Bollywood Hungama, âThe bone of contention was that Ranveer Singh should pay Rs. 40 crores to Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani for the losses incurred in the pre-production of the film. Ranveer argued that he was not liable to pay as he had not taken a single paisa from the producers. Hence, paying back such a hefty amount was out of the question.âThe source continued, âRanveer Singh also pointed out that he was to work in a film called Baiju Bawra, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. He prepped for the challenging role for almost a year and turned down several films as a result. Ultimately, Baiju Bawra was shelved and Sanjay Leela Bhansali then began working on Love & War, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. Ranveer revealed that he was not compensated for the year he spent preparing for the role. He further argued that itâs the nature of the business â at times, films donât get made or are relegated to the backburner for various reasons and no one gets compensated for it.âThe source added, âRanveer also said that there were reports that Shah Rukh Khan, who led Don (2006) and Don 2 (2011), was approached for Don 3 as well. He argued that had SRK agreed, he would have been replaced, without any compensation. Actor Rajpal Yadav, known for his comic roles in Hindi cinema, has surrendered at Delhiâs Tihar Jail in connection with a decade-old cheque-bounce case involving nearly Rs 9 crores. Following his surrender, several members of the film industry and political figures have publicly offered financial assistance to help the actor address his legal and monetary troubles.According to PTI, the matter dates back to 2010 when Rajpal Yadav borrowed Rs 5 crores from M/s Murali Projects Pvt Ltd to finance his directorial venture Ata Pata Laapata. The film failed at the box office, resulting in significant losses.Over the years, accumulated interest, penalties and delays reportedly increased the outstanding amount to approximately Rs 9 crores. In an attempt to clear the dues, Yadav issued multiple cheques to the lender. However, these were dishonoured, leading to criminal proceedings under the Negotiable Instruments Act.On February 2, 2026, the Delhi High Court directed the actor to surrender before jail authorities by 4 pm on February 4, observing that his conduct deserved to be deprecated due to repeated breaches of undertakings.On February 5, 2026, Rajpal Yadav appeared physically before the court. His counsel informed the court that he was ready to submit a demand draft of Rs 25 lakhs and adhere to a fresh payment schedule. Despite the offer, the judge declined to recall the surrender order, stating that compassion must be balanced with discipline and that the judiciary could not create âspecial circumstancesâ for individuals from the film industry.Later that day, Yadav surrendered at Tihar Jail and began serving his six-month sentence. Jail authorities confirmed that standard procedures were followed. Industry members step in with financial aid In the wake of his incarceration, several public figures have extended financial support.Music producer Rao Inderjeet Singh Yadav, owner of GemTunes Music, announced assistance of Rs 1.1 crores. Speaking to IANS, he said, âRajpal ji has given immeasurable joy to audiences and has been an integral part of Indian cinema. This support is not about money; it is about standing with a fellow human being in his time of need.âOur industry is a family, and families hold each other when it matters most.â He also shared a post on Instagram urging others to come forward and help the actor.Earlier, actors Sonu Sood and Gurmeet Chaudhary, along with Tej Pratap Yadav, national president of Jan Shakti Janata Dal, also offered their assistance.Tej Pratap Yadav wrote in Hindi on X, âI just received information about the pain of the family of the honorable Rajpal Yadav ji through the post of my elder brother Rao Inderjeet Yadav ji. In this extremely difficult time, I and my entire JJD (Jan Shakti Janata Dal) family stand in complete empathy and solidarity with their grieving family.With a spirit of human compassion and support, on behalf of the JJD family, I am providing financial assistance of âč11,00,000 (eleven lakh rupees) to their family.âActor and film critic Kamaal R Khan (KRK) also pledged âč10 lakh and urged the film fraternity to contribute collectively. On X, he wrote, âI am ready to give âč10 lakhs for Rajpal Yadav. Letâs all Bollywood people come together to give him âč5cr! If he does pay back only âč5cr so he can come out from jail immediately! Letâs all help him (sic).âOn the professional front, Rajpal Yadav was last seen in Baby John and Interrogation. As per Pinkvilla, Aamir Khan, R Madhavan and Sharman Joshi are expected to reprise the roles of Rancho, Farhan and Raju respectively with one more actor also joining the principal cast. Recently, Rajkumar Hirani admitted that heâs indeed working on the sequel.In an interview with Variety India, Rajkumar Hirani said, âI have a couple of ideas at the moment. Salman Khan shoots a patriotic song for Battle Of Galwan at Minister of Defence's request
Salman Khan is going all-out to ensure that his war film Battle Of Galwan turns out to be another success in the genre after Border 2.In the bid to raise the emotional content of the product, Salman called his director Apoorva Lakhia last week and asked him to shoot a patriotic song, paying homage to the real-life soldiers on whom the film is based.âThey shot the song literally overnight. Salman wanted the song for the end-credits paying homage to all the martyrs who are featured in the film. Director Apoorva Lakhia, who was on a short break, had to rush back and shoot the song,â an informed source revealed.The song, written and sung by Ayaan Lall (actress Kunicka Lallâs son), is filmed on Salman as the end credit will roll. Ghooskhor Pandat to be retitled after backlash; Delhi HC closes plea
New Delhi: The makers of the upcoming Netflix film originally titled Ghooskhor Pandat, starring Manoj Bajpayee, have decided to change the filmâs title following public backlash and legal objections.The controversy began after the title , combining a word commonly understood to mean âbribe-takerâ with a variation of âPandit,â a term associated with Brahmin priests â drew criticism from sections of the community. Critics argued that the title appeared to link a caste group with corruption and could hurt religious sentiments.A petition was subsequently filed in the Delhi High Court seeking a stay on the filmâs release. The plea contended that the title and promotional material were defamatory and could disturb communal harmony. During the hearing, the producers and the streaming platform informed the court that they would change the title and remove existing promotional material carrying the original name. The court then disposed of the petition.The issue also triggered protests and criticism on social media, with some industry bodies reportedly stating that the original title had not received formal approval through standard processes.Earlier, actor Manoj Bajpayee and director Neeraj Pandey had clarified that the film is a work of fiction and was not intended to target any community.
